Insurance for those working as carers or personal assistants, providing both public liability and personal accident cover.

What am I protected against?

Insurance for carers and personal assistants from Carer Insure offers cover of up to £5 million if you accidentally injure your client while performing support duties. 

 

The cover wouldn’t be valid if you deliberately injured the client or if you were performing duties you hadn’t had appropriate training to perform. 

 

Other exclusions do apply, so be sure to check the full policy documents before making the choice to purchase cover.

Am I covered if I accidentally give my client the incorrect medication?

If you should happen to accidentally give your client the wrong medication, you will be covered for up to £5 million. The cover wouldn’t be valid if you deliberately gave the client the incorrect medication or gave the incorrect medication because you were performing duties you hadn’t had appropriate training to perform. As with all insurance policies, limitations and exclusions apply, so be sure to check the full policy documents before making the choice to purchase cover.

Am I covered if I get injured at work?

If you’re self-employed, you don’t have the benefit of being covered by your employers insurance policy. But, with our Carer and Personal Assistant Insurance policy, you get up to £10,000 personal accident cover to protect you in case you are injured at work. This cover wouldn’t be valid if you were undertaking certain dangerous activities such as rock climbing, or if the accident was as a result of drunkenness. Other exclusions apply, so be sure to check the full policy documents before making the choice to purchase cover.

Am I covered if I accidentally damage my client’s property?

The Public Liability element of our Carer and Personal Assistant policy covers you in case you accidentally damage your client’s property. This cover has a limit of up to £5 million and you must pay the first £100 for damage to someone else’s property. Damage to your or a family member’s property would not be covered.

I’m self-employed. Do I need Carer & Personal Assistant insurance?

If you’re self-employed, it’s a good idea to have insurance. It means that you are protected should something go wrong at work. It may also give your clients peace of mind to know that you have public liability insurance.
